Good Morning!

The weather has turned seasonal here in the Old Dominion. Mornings are crisp and clear, temperatures hover in the sixties until close to midday. In short, it is a delight to be out and about these days. I am enjoying walking my daughter to pre-school. She has just discovered that she can hop up and walk along on the very low “walls” that border the front “lawns” on Monument Avenue. It’s such a perfect little kid moment.

I’d also like to recommend a perfect little adult moment. This morning, why don’t you take your breakfast or coffee outdoors?

I’m off to wipe down the adirondacks on the front porch… .

Happy weekend.

  1. Good morning to you.

Coffee at the computer — otherwise how can I read you? Well, we do have a laptop, but as a gardener I really haven’t gotten used to taking it out to the deck. I won’t even take a phone outside — no distractions.

Weather here sounds similar. Worked 3 hours in the garden yesterday. Just gorgeous. To see what’s in bloom in Wisconsin, check out my gardener’s bloom day post from Monday.

Now I WILL take my coffee outside and enjoy those water lilies and dragonflies. Have a lovely weekend.

  2. This is a wonderful time of year! Last night we had dinner outside and it was just lovely. I hope to enjoy a nice cup of coffee on the deck tomorrow morning. I can’t think of a better way to start the day.

  3. I try and sit out back with the dog for a few minutes while I am collecting my thoughts to get ready to leave for work. It’s really perfect outside these days.

  4. T’is a glorious day here and we love to enjoy the outdoors with coffee or even a late night glass of wine. Today was the first day to grab a sweater! Feels good.

  5. Monument Avenue is the most beautiful street in America. To walk down it on a clear fall morning, hand in hand with your daughter: life can’t get any better than that.

A palazzo on the Grand Canal or an invitation to a Rothschild ball pale in comparison.

  6. Excellent advice, EEL. My absolute favourite time of day is the early morning, around 5:00, when the air is still cool and the moon is out, before the neighbours get up, and before the paper chap makes his rounds. I prepare a few eggs and toast and pour 2 or 3 cups of Earl Grey tea with milk and mint. Pure bliss. When you wipe down the adirondacks, do you use oxford cloth or pinpoint? 😉

  7. LBT, Turkish terrycloth, of course. Earl Grey with mint. I’ll have to try that.

Notting, which is why I had to purchase it. My efforts are not photo worthy! And I take coffee black, no sugar…

Mr. Stuart, how very right you are.
