Summer’s End

Chambray Linen

It has been a strange summer. August in Richmond, VA shouldn’t see temperatures in the 80’s. 90 degrees Fahrenheit plus, yes. 80’s, no.

As many of you know, I’ve been goofing around with the easy side of Easy and Elegant Life. Summer is, after all, a more laid back time; especially by the end. And, with Mrs. E’s disease, we have to keep the house rather warm. All things being equal, coat and tie is not the order of the day, every day.

I like a lightweight chambray shirt. Especially when it is made up in a pop over. It reminds me, rightly or wrongly as I have no basis for the reference, of an Indian polo shirt of the Raj era. Paired with a pair of white linen trousers and tan suede penny loafers I feel dressed enough for any occasion short of a business meeting.

  1. Chris, I am sorry about Mrs. E’s health, but the “Easy” side of “Easy and Elegant Life” works quite well for you.

  2. Dearest Chris,
Very sorry to read about your wife’s health issues. Hope things are going to be better.
Your pairing of easy summer fare is perfect. So much for linen trousers; my husband has several and they feel perfect for summer!
Hugs to the both of you,
    Mariette
