My father used to tell me that all roads lead to Richmond. I’d laugh. But, 25 years later, having lived in other states and abroad, here I am. What’s so attractive about this mid-sized city? Friend of the blog, Greg, forwarded me this video that his office has just produced. I thought it might give you a taste of lil’ ol’ Richmond, just in case you wanted to visit.
Hi, I’m not sure if all roads lead to Richmond, but as you know, we do enjoy complaining that they have the best ones in the state. Great video.
I guess you are not aware of the meaning behind the tune to the Greater Richmond: Come and Stay video. It is from the band Foster the People and the song is called Pumped up Kicks. It is about a young man with a gun and he is shooting people. I actually like the song. I mean the tune is awesome but the words are gruesome. “All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you’d better run, better run, outrun my gun. All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you’d better run, better run, faster than my bullet.” and then it talks about waiting for his dad to come home and when he does, he lights his dad’s hair on fire. Such a cheery song to go along with a video about the city I live in.
Ms. Farmer, I had no idea. I’m a Great American Songbook kinda guy. New music I tend to gloss over these days. I better open my ears more. I’ll pass this along to the guys who did the video. Thanks.
@ Janet Farmer, the music to this video is not the song that you mentioned above. The GRP would not dare to consider using that song because of it’s lyrical content, nor could we afford the copyright usage fees if we wanted to. I believe that if you listened to the music side-by-side, you would notice that it’s not the same song. Thank you for your concern.
