I shied away from maroon ties for a decade or so. They seemed too easy, the stock colour for navy and grey suits both. But, I’ve noticed that they go well with my complexion and do make an appropriate foil for my go-to shirts. I was feeling a bit “Roger Moore” circa “The Saint” today, hence the blazer.
If you’re starting to mix colour and pattern into your wardrobe, the maroon/blue/white combination is a natural. The patterns here — a neat repeat on the tie and the wide stripe — are your first small step.
Below the blazer, grey flannels, blue-grey-charcoal Argyll socks and Alden’s tassel loafer in cigar shell cordovan.
I rather like that square pattern on the maroon ground.
Nicely done.

I find maroon/ wine goes with everything. It is traditional with grey and navy as you mention, but I also like it very much with browns and tans. The brown suit with marroon tie is a look one sees in a lot of period setting movies because it has such a rich, antique, look.
