Hello Porter, it helps to keep an elegant frame of mind, doesn't it? I loved y'all's Raj party! Bully for the guests who made the effort.

Ah Mrs. PvE, we had a bartender for New Year's 2007 and enjoyed every carefree moment that he afforded us. "Banter!" Just the element sometimes missing... too serious matters being discussed in this election year. "Your elegant self" is a far cry better than my typical "your drinking boots...."

I've got to confess that I fall down on the flower front without fail. These days it seems as if the shopping is so rushed that I inevitably forget something. Flowers are never a speedy last minute rush to the corner market find... I shall try to do better.

Oh Aesthete, don't worry I mentally filled in an "en." Besides, "freshing" a guest list sounds sort of like plumping a pillow... a pleasing end result any way you look at it.

Certain elements make a grown-up party all that much more fun, for example to
hire or retain a "bartender" leaving the host & hostess room to mingle and make proper introductions. Friends always appreciate the attention to detail and an event with thought and care. Fresh flowers, lovely victuals and drink, a mix of music create for an evening of banter and promise to please all who attend. The other area is when guests rsvp as to "what to bring" and I simply reply - "your elegant self!"
